Las Vegas has redirected, defused its street lights

We have been reading with interest the subject of outdoor lighting and light trespassing that is too bright. I know that a large city like Las Vegas had very bright lights at one time but now the city diffuses the light to beam downward rather that up. So I know that it can be done.

We have a condominium across from us that lights up the whole neighborhood and doesn’t even realize that their neighbors would like to sleep in the dark rather than in a dimly lit house as if the sun were about to rise all night long.

It would be nice if everyone – hotels, condominiums, apartment buildings, residential homes, etc. – would just put a cover on their lights so that the light would shine downward and not out and up. Everyone would still have the security light that they want but it would help put out the light into the night sky and into their neighbor’s homes.
