I bought this for my son as a Christmas present. He loved it. It comes in a really nice carrying case. The snare is tunable and comes with its own tuning key. This is a great starter drum.

My son needed a snare drum for school.... this was recommended by his teacher. This drum is on the heavy side, but has nice details and came with everything he needed.

This item arrived promptly and was very well packed. Set up was easy. In the month since we purchased it my son has been on it every day. It's already endured a year's worth of abuse. There's a practice pad (rubber circle) that mounts on top of the drum and muffles the sound. Without it I would be insane by now but it works well. All in all a great basic snare with good sound and well made.

My son was totally satisfied with this drum. I think it is a great one for the price.

My 11 yr old son started learning drums two years ago. I knew he had wanted a snare drum and when I saw the price of this particular one I took the chance and bought it. He brought it into school and his teacher said it was an excellent drum. As for the smell - yes there is a slight odor when you take it out of the package but it goes away once it is aired out. This was an excellent buy, worth the money and easy for him to take back and forth to school.

Bought this for our 8-year-old to begin learning to play the drums, and it worked great. His instructor was impressed that it held its tune (which is more than I knew). Carrying case also works well.

I bought this snare for my 12 years son and still use it, very good quality!

This drum was a surprise for me, it's great with all its features but little heavy for me, I wish it's carrying bag was rolling!

I bought this drum for someone else in the household, who loves playing it. Otherwise, I'd give it away or even throw it away, because after several months it still smells terrible. At first I thought it was just out-gassing and that the smell would go away -- but it hasn't. It still has that awful "made in China" odor that some things have. It smells toxic, really bad. As soon as I can replace it with one I can buy from a store (and smell first) I will. Meanwhile, I don't recommend it unless you're willing to return it right away if you get one that smells bad.

I needed to buy a drum for my son when he joined his elementary shool's band. I purchased this drum because it was the least expensive one with a kit that had all the items needed by the school. We've had it now for 16 months. It's been pretty decent. However, the 3 stars are due to the bag that comes with it. It's definitely not a durable bag. It was all torn apart in less than a year and it's hard to find a replacement bag. I see here that the description says the snare drum itself measures 14x5.5, I wonder if that changed recently since the one I got in Nov. 2007 measures 14x7 and there are just no carry-all bags out there that are big enough for it.
