mine arrived DOA. Tech support online by the manufacturer went well but I ended up returning it to Amazon without hassle. Never had this happen before, doubt I would choose this brand name again.

Forget this as a pristine gift if you are hoping for one.
These microphones are apparently all blemished. I thought I got a dud at first, but then I got a replacement from amazon which was also just as bad looking. I’ve uploaded two pics (they are side by side). I also noticed that the seller who has uploaded his own, shows a third one upclose, and there are two black spots you can see in his picture…
I’d uploaded a audio video sample but my VIA 1.2 GHz processor can’t handle this microphone for some reason even though it can use the built in microphone just fine.
Another thing to keep in mind is that this doesn’t come with its own software, so I wasn’t able to adjust the microphone settings, I had to use vista’s help feature to figure out how to adjust them, and you can’t do it manually, you can only let it decide the level, bleah. I wish I had XP installed.
Another problem is the faux leather case, which gasses off a WD-40 like smell and makes me sick. Whatever this smelly chemical is it is apparently common in cheap chinese plastic products and has caused me headaches and provoked me to repeatedly try and puke. Leave it to China to include toxic waste with your purchase.

I was trying to record a voice, using headphones for audio monitoring (very typical thing) and there was a noticeable latency in the sound which I was listening through the headphones. I googled the issue I discovered that all USB microphones suffer form same drawback – a latency of the sound. Which means that if speaking into microphone and at the same time using a headphones connected to the computer to listen your speech, then you will hear your voice in the headphones with noticeable delay. There is no solution for this issue in case you have typical PC or laptop, because the problem is caused by the limitations of typical sound cards.
To resolve the issue some models of USB microphones have special jack which allows to connect headphones directly to microphone.
However in AT2020 USB has no such jack, and there is no solution to resolve the issue. I contacted Audio-Technica tech support and they gave me couple advices:
1) Use special additional software to boost the sound processing speed. I tried, and it slightly improved the situation, but did not solved it.
2) Do not use headphones/speaker to monitor recording. Uh, well, may be it is a solution, but not for professional work.
So my conclusion – this device is nice and expensive toy, but it useless for making professional recordings.

Hi, this microphone is easy to use. But I could not get any more sound clarity than the inbuilt microphone of my laplop. I am trying to use this microphone on Sony Soundforge and I will let you know how it goes.

This is a great microphone. It came with all the hardware, ready to go with my computer. I have been using it everyday.
