I was treated with Rituxan for cryoglobulinemic vasculitis with peripheral neuropathy with good results.
I was diagnosed in June '02 with Hepatitis C by a reumatologist. Within a week of starting Pegasys and ribivirin (January '03), I was plunged into extreme pain in my back and legs.ÊI was treated for a disc problem with limited results.ÊTwo months later, a neurosurgeon I consulted referred me to a neurologist who confirmed cryoglobulinemic vasculitis as the cause of the pain and weakness (not the disc problem).
By June '03, a Hematologist got the Rituxan approved under my prescription plan. In August '03, a month after completing the fourth Rituxan infusion, the cryocrit level was less than half the level prior to Rituxan treatment. I noticed improvement in sensation, strength and level of pain. By November '03, the Cryocrit level was only a trace. I am fortunately a responder to the Pegasys and Ribavirin.
I continue to improve in terms of the pain, numbness, and weakness in my lower back, legs and feet, but this is very slow.
Maybe this story could help someone else.
I contracted hepc when I was working at a hospital, I was up in the unit doing a art stick and got stuck, pt. was very ill, this was in 1991, then I broke out with this severe rash, thought it was vascular , but tested was cryo . I am now taking a product with omega 3 and shark liver oil with contains 30% Alkyglycerol's and Squalene. This product has helped me more then anything else, my circulation is so much better, I look for my health care else where besides the US . I have been on Interferon and my doctor would like me took take it again and I said no. This natural product has helped many people I no and love, so this is the route I choose to take and continue, its really to bad that Doctors won't listen to something like this to help many other people.
